“Project Frankenstein” Custom Build LIVE Solo Feat. PCJ Custom Guitars

Tweet This project was the brainchild of PCJ Custom Guitars who were looking to create a replica of Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstein guitar. I was asked to compose a soundtrack for the build video using the completed Frankenstein. The Frankenstein solo was a lot of fun to write and play but quite challenging as I decided to incorporate as many Eddie Van Halen tricks as possible into one song including tap harmonics, natural harmonics, tremolo picking, whammy bar dips and dives and a lot of fret tapping as this is the technique he is most famous for advancing. Double Slit Guitars “Multiverse” Tech Spec & Model Test

Tweet I was approached by Double Slit Guitars to record another test video for a new prototype model called the "Multiverse". Following feedback about the first Double Slit Guitars video I recorded for the "Proton" model I decided this video would be an entire song instead of a breakdown of separate riffs for each pickup of the guitar. After an initial play of the guitar It was obvious that the Bare Knuckle pickups were very flexible and had excellent tonal options, so I sat down and came up with the funk style clean riff and worked from there. I'm sure you will agree that the guitar looks and sounds excellent. Check out Double Slit Guitars here. The guitars coming out of this workshop look and sound amazing and are completely hand made. The spec for the "Multiverse" is as follows Front Of Body Zebrano Back Of Body Ash Zebrano Wire Cover Double Slit Signature Headstock Front Of Headstock Zebrano Back Of Headstock Rock Maple Ebony Nut Walnut Neck With Center Zebrano Stripe 25.5 Inch Scale / Wide Neck Profile 21 Frets Speckled Maple Fretboard Abalone Fret Inlays 2 x Bare Knuckle "Cold Sweat" Pickups 3 Way Selector Switch 2 x Abalone Volume Controls 2 x Abalone Tone Controls Schaller 456 Bridge With Fine Tuners Schaller Locking Tuners

“The Purple One” Custom Refurb Soundtrack Feat. PCJ Custom Guitars

Tweet I approached PCJ to repair and customize my beaten up RT series Ibanez. I wanted to transform it into a guitar that would be perfect for playing slide guitar. I was taking on a lot of new pupils including blues players wanting to learn blues lead and slide guitar. The bridge of the guitar was replaced and blocked off to make it easier to use open tuning without the possibility of the bridge moving. Also the action of the guitar was raised slightly to give clearance when playing so no contact would be made with the fret wire when sliding. When it came to putting a video together for this project I decided I really wanted to emphasize the change to a more slide focused guitar. I had the idea of making the music a duel between a regular 6 string playing lead and the purple guitar playing lead slide. You can find out more about PCJ Custom Guitars here or here
